2026 NextGen Session
(trainee only event)

In a typical year, the NextGen Session is held in conjuntion with the main San Diego Glycobiology Symposium (SDGS). SDGS has been postponed until 2027. However, the NextGen Session will continue to take place Spring 2026 as a standalone, one day event.

Registration Fee Includes: admission to NextGen Session, poster session, lunch, and reception.
NextGen Session
NextGen is only for students, fellows and postdocs. It provides a mechanism for students and fellows with interest in the glycosciences to discuss current research in a highly stimulating, non-intimidating enviornment. The model is based on the Gordon Research Seminar Series.
If you are interested in attending the NextGen Session and/or be considered to give a talk at the NextGen Session please indicate this on the registration form.
Abstract Submission
Trainee presentations are selected from a pool of submitted abstracts. To be considered to present during NextGen, indicate your intention on the registration form and submit your abstract by Date tbd.
The NextGen committee comprised of young investigators, with the support of the GRTC Co-Directors, will select abstracts for 15-minute oral presentations + 5 min Q&A. Committee decisions will be emailed by Date TBD. There will be a Trainee Speaker Award for best oral presentation. Presentation slots are limited. If your abstract is not selected, you also have an opportunity to present a poster during the Poster Session. Abstract is not required to do a poster talk.
Poster Session
Trainees and Fellows are encouraged to present a poster during the Poster session. Poster presentations will occur during lunchtime 12:30-2:30pm without specific scheduling for individual talks. Attendees can visit posters at their own pace and engage in discussions. Additionally, attendees will have opportunity to vote for the best poster presentation. Please indicate your intention to present a poster on the registration form (above). You must send the title of your poster Tracy Gilstrap at tgilstrap@health.ucsd.edu by Date TBD, to be listed in the Program. Posters must not exceed 48" x 48". Bring your poster to the registration table during check in. No abstract is required to do a poster talk. This is separate from submitting an abstract to give a talk during the meeting.
Reception
A buffet dinner follows the meeting. Dinner is included with registration cost.Tickets are non-transferrable and are not refundable as we have to provide a guarantee to the venue for food/beverage.Location and Accommodations

Cancellation
Written notification is required for all cancellations and changes. Cancellation notifications must be received by date tbd to receive a refund. Any cancellations received after this date will forfeit the registration fee in its entirety.
