A second edition of the textbook, Essentials of Glycobiology, is now available.  The editors have modified the symbol nomenclature for representing glycans that was presented in the first edition.  Before finalizing this new system the editors have worked with other relevant organizations, such as the Consortium for Functional Glycomics and NLM/NCBI, to ensure compatibility and agreement.  In case others in the field wish to adopt this system, see the book website here.  Details can be found in the downloadable file available here.
